iKids is our ministry to children in first through fifth grade. When it comes to influencing young lives for Christ, we use an approach found in Deuteronomy 6...
"These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates." Deuteronomy 6:6-9
Pretty much, it's like this... A church has 40 opportunities in a year to impart truth to a child, but parents have 3,000! At Capstone, we desire to come along side parents and help them teach their children truths from God's Word so that each child grows in his or her experience with God. Using a curriculum that gives parents tools to engage their children during those times listed in Deuteronomy 6 (meal time, drive time, bed time and morning time), we give children the opportunity to grow in their faith, while also giving parents the resources they need to reinforce truth at home.
Each month in iKids we look at a "Life App" (something God does in us to change the world around us) and how we can grow in that life app to be more like Jesus by seeing how people in the Bible did it (or didn't do it). Children worship together, learn some interesting things about interesting people in the Bible, and learn how they can become more like Jesus! Each week has a "Bottom Line" that can be reinforced at home, and there is also a Bible verse each month for your children to memorize. Click on the links below to see this month's Life App and each week's Bottom Line.
Also listed below are each week's "God Time Card" and "Parent Cue Card". Children are given a hard copy each Sunday to take home, but you can always check here to view it as well. God Time Cards have four different quiet time experiences for children to read during the week and the Parent Cue Card helps parents to reinforce the Life App at home throughout the week! Parent Cue Cards also offer questions for your family to discuss in natural rhythms of the day -- like table time at meals, bedtime & car time.
